ความซื่อสัตย์

ความซื่อสัตย์สุจริตเป็นส่วนหนึ่งของความจริงใจ  การที่เราจะมีความซื่อสัตย์ต่อผู้อื่น  เราต้องมีความซื่อสัตย์ต่อตนเองเสียก่อน  แท้จริงแล้วเราไม่จำเป็นต้องมีความซื่อสัตย์หรอก  แต่ให้เป็นคนมีความจริงใจก็สามารถมีความซื่อสัตย์ได้แล้ว  เพราะเมื่อเรามีความจริงใจผลพลอยได้คือความซื่อสัตย์  การที่เรามีความซื่อสัตย์ต่อผู้อื่นไม่ได้  ก็เพราะขาดความซื่อสัตย์ต่อตนเองธรรมะว่าด้วยความซื่อสัตย์ก็มีลักษณะเหมือนธรรมะข้ออื่น  คือต้องทำให้สิ่งนั้นเกิดขึ้นโดยเริ่มต้นที่ตนเองก่อน  คนถ้าไม่ซื่อสัตย์ต่อตนเองแล้ว  โดยมักคิดว่าถ้าตนเองทำอะไรผิดแล้วปกปิดไว้มิให้คนอื่นล่วงรู้ในสิ่งที่ตนทำ  โดยมักจะคิดว่าถ้าไม่บอกว่าเราทำอะไรผิดบ้างคนอื่นก็จะไม่รู้  นี่คือความไม่ซื่อสัตย์ต่อตนเอง  การทำให้ตนมีความซื่อสัตย์อย่างแท้จริงนั้นเป็นเรื่องยาก  คนที่จะมีความซื่อสัตย์ได้นั้นต้องมีความจริงใจต่อตนเอง  ถ้าจะให้ดีคือต้องกล้าประจานความชั่วที่ตนมีต่อหน้าผู้อื่น  คนฟังยิ่งมากยิ่งดี  ถ้าเราทำได้รับรองว่าเราจะมีความซื่อสัตย์แน่นอน  แต่ถ้าทำไม่ได้ผู้เขียนก็ไม่รู้ว่าจะเอาความซื่อสัตย์ต่อตนเองมาจากไหน  เมื่อเราไม่มีความซื่อสัตย์ต่อตนเองก็ไม่สามารถซื่อสัตย์ต่อผู้อื่นและส่วนรวมได้เลย
